At Brand Hero PNG, our purpose has always gone beyond design and print. We believe that good business should make a positive difference. Two of our most meaningful community initiatives, Toys for Joy and Words for Wantoks, are how we bring that belief to life.
This year, both programs have reached new milestones, received national attention and even earned us a nomination for the Moreton Bay Business Excellence Awards in the Corporate Social Responsibility category. It has been a proud year for our team and a reminder of what happens when community comes first.
A Year of Recognition
In June, PNG Business News published a feature on our work supporting education and literacy in rural Papua New Guinea. The story highlighted the impact of our Words for Wantoks program, which continues to grow year after year with the help of generous donors, partners and volunteers.
Closer to home, our commitment to community has been recognised through our nomination for the 2025 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards. Being named a finalist in the Corporate Social Responsibility category is an honour that reflects the heart and effort our team invests in these initiatives.
Toys for Joy: Sharing Smiles Across PNG
Toys have a remarkable ability to comfort, connect and inspire. For children in hospital or living in rural communities, a small toy can bring joy, distraction and hope.
Our Toys for Joy program collects pre-loved toys in good condition from families, schools and supporters in Australia. These are carefully sorted, packed and delivered to hospitals and community centres across Papua New Guinea.
The 2025 edition is already well underway, with even more schools and families contributing to this year’s collection. Volunteers have been busy preparing shipments for delivery, and we are on track for our biggest total yet. Each toy represents a message of kindness, showing children that someone, somewhere, is thinking of them.
Words for Wantoks: Inspiring Young Readers
Access to books remains one of the biggest challenges for rural schools in Papua New Guinea, and Words for Wantoks was created to help change that.
The program collects donated children’s books and educational materials and delivers them to schools and libraries across the country. Earlier this year, we supported the opening of a new library in Papa Village, which received more than 4,500 books through the program. The excitement on the students’ faces as they explored the shelves for the first time said it all.
The 2025 edition is also growing fast, with additional schools and libraries joining the program. Shipments are already being prepared, and we are expecting another bumper total as we continue to expand our network and reach.
Our Commitment to Doing Good
For Brand Hero PNG, social responsibility is not an afterthought. It is part of who we are. Through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we focus on supporting education, improving community wellbeing and creating opportunities that last.
The recognition from PNG Business News and the Moreton Bay Business Excellence Awards reinforces our belief that meaningful impact begins with small, consistent actions. When we all contribute what we can, positive change follows.
Looking Ahead
Our goals for the coming year include:
- Expanding Words for Wantoks to more rural schools and libraries
- Building stronger partnerships with local organisations and transport providers
- Sharing more stories from the children, teachers and families we support
These programs exist because of the generosity of our partners, clients and donors. Every contribution helps us reach another child, another classroom and another community.
