Clement Koys
Clement Koys is a self-taught artist from Papua New Guinea, known for vibrant portraits that celebrate cultural identity. Raised in Madang, he learned art through his brothers’ sign-writing work. After moving to Port Moresby in 2003, he painted billboards and refined his portrait skills. In 2005, he co-founded the Tumbuna Visual Arts Association to support local artists. His work, often seen in public murals, highlights traditional dress and customs, and has been exhibited both locally and internationally.

Malcolm Maira is a Papua New Guinean artist known for vibrant works that celebrate his country’s cultural heritage. His bold use of colour and traditional motifs reflect Papua New Guinea’s diverse identity. Maira gained recognition for his painting commemorating the nation’s 50th anniversary, featured in the #highlight2025 event. Blending tradition with contemporary elements, his art tells visual stories that resonate locally and internationally.

Larry Santana
Larry Santana is one of PNG’s most prominent contemporary artists. With over 30 years of practice, 50 national and international exhibitions, and multiple residencies in the US, his work spans local and global recognition. His art features in PNG’s Parliament House and overseas galleries. After a 14-year hiatus he returned to painting from his daughter’s home in Port Moresby. Through traditional myths and modern tensions, he promotes cultural pride and environmental consciousness.

Laben Sakale
Laben Sakale John is a Papua New Guinean contemporary artist known for his bold, expressive abstract paintings that explore social, cultural, and environmental issues. Born in 1976 in Menyamya, Morobe Province, he graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea in 1997. His work often uses unconventional tools and materials, reflecting themes of gender, climate change, and modern urban life.
